Boss Battle! Trading Card Game
A downloadable Trading Card Game
Boss Battle! Trading Card Game has 123 unique physical trading cards, a booklet detailing the rules, iconography, the layout of cards and common TCG terminology.
Different Card Types
The cards are divided up into seven unique types for Monsters and Boss Monsters those being; Fire, Water, Air, Nature, Machine, Light and Dark. There are however Spell and Trap cards which feature their own icons, mechanics, and colours. Finally, there is one special card that was designed as an omni-type being all the seven monster types at once.
Card Design
While each card is unique, they all share some commonalities such as; Name, Image, Type, Effect/Flavour-Text Box and Card Category. With Monsters/Bosses having Attack, HP, and Star Rating and for those cards with a particularly powerful effect an Energy Cost icon and Summoning Requirements box for Boss Monsters being unique to each Boss with most having multiple different ways to be summoned. A card that has an Energy Cost can use its effect for the required Energy where players will attach corresponding Energy cards that match the cards type (e.g., Spell Energy for a Spell Card).
Iconography
Some Spell and Trap cards have different categories like Continuous meaning so long as a condition is met their effect remains activated while the card is on the field rather than being discarded upon activation, Equip where a card is equipped to a Monster/Boss giving them an bonus effect/HP/Attack and remains on the field unless destroyed or if the Monster its equipped to is destroyed and lastly a Counter which can be activated in response to an effect or attack to counter it.
How to Win
The rulebook goes into detail about the win conditions, tributing, type chart, phase order, each phase in a turn, iconography, and terminology. The Win conditions for Boss Battle are to have your opponent either lose all 8000 Life-Points, run out of cards in their Main Deck or win via an effect.
Summoning/Tributing
Tributing is the process of summoning high-level Monsters. With Monsters whose level (as seen by the number in the Star Rating) is 5/6 they only require you to tribute 1 monster on your side of the board by sending it to the graveyard and replacing it with the new monster. Monsters with a level of 7/8 require 2 monsters and 9/10 require 3 with Monsters 1-4 not requiring any tributes at all.
Type Match-ups
The type-chart details which cards have a type advantage against one another with each type having 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses with the exception of Light and Dark which cancel one another out. If a Monster has the type advantage their attack is doubled but if they are going against a Monster, they are weak too their attack is halved. If going against a Monster with neither an advantage nor disadvantage it’s just neutral damage.
Turn Order
The phases go in order of the Draw Phase where a player selects the deck they want to draw 1 card from, Main Phase 1 where a player can Summon/Set Monsters, Spells and Traps and activate effects, Battle Phase where Monsters attack one another or deal direct damage to a players Life-Points, Main Phase 2 which is another opportunity to activate effects and summon/set if a player hasn’t done so already this turn and lastly the End Phase where any lingering effect is resolved.
Deck-Building
For those wanting to contruct their own decks rather than use the ones that are pre-builtthere are some Deck-Building rules to follow such as;
- 1 Boss Monster per Deck.
- Up to 3 of any Monster, Spell or Trap Card.
- A Main Deck (Made up of Monsters, Spells and Traps) are 40 - 60 Cards in total.
- An Energy Deck (Made entirely out of Energy Cards) are 20 - 40 Cards in total.
For a more well-rounded Deck follow these guidelines:
- 18 Monsters in Main Deck.
- 14 Spells in Main Deck.
- 7 Traps in Main Deck.
- 1 Boss Monster.
- Put in as much Energy as required for the different card effects in your Main Deck in order to make an Energy Deck.

Wow your game is so cool, I love artstyle so much!
I'm also doing a card game and trying to come up with the design ideas for it, but don't have a playable demo.
But I've developed a web-tool for generating cards. Maybe this tool will also help with development of your game.
I would be gratefull if you can take a look and provide any kind of feedback.
